The Intervention Process
Initial Phone Consultation We gather information on your loved one: We assess your loved one's current situation and discuss various treatment options. The Preparation Stage This is the most important step in the intervention process. Mike Nielsen, the Director of Surf City Drug Rehabilitation, meets with the intervention participants, i.e.; family, friends, coworkers, etc. We go through a discussion, a rehearsal, and conduct role playing exercises to prepare for the intervention. Next, we coordinate the date, time, and location where the intervention will take place. Then we begin assessing which treatment program is the best for your loved one. Final Preparation (the day of the intervention) Final preparations will take place a few hours before the intervention for any last questions, comments or concerns. A special location will be chosen where the intervention participants will meet. This location should be close to where your loved one is living, working, etc. The Actual Intervention There are many ways to intervene depending on the situation. The interventionist will lead and guide the group and communicate to the addict or alcoholic the solution and message of hope for treatment and how it will help to change his or her life. Accompany Patient To Treatment Program Upon completion of the intervention, Mike Nielsen will personally accompany your loved one to the treatment program, making sure that he or she has a smooth transition into the pre-selected treatment facility choice. Debriefing The debriefing process involves all participants of the intervention. Debrief time is spent after the intervention on reflection, answering questions about the intervention, and most importantly; staying positive and firm that the right decision has been made to assist the addict or alcoholic…your loved one, in getting help.
